Kriya Prana
Kriya Prana is the process (kirya) of energy (prana). All spiritual paths are about energy. In one respect, life is a series of energy transformers. There is Pure Matter. And there is Pure Energy (shakti) with consciousness (shiva). When they are combined you have creation and existence. That is why, from a spiritual perspective, whatever we refer to with our personal lexicon as “god” must be worshipped with and without form.
Many traditions, especially healing traditions, reference the energy within the human body. Words to name this energetic life force are known around the world. They include chi'i (pronounced “chee”) in China, prana in India, ki in Japanese, mana in Hawaii; shakti in Sanskrit, and orenda in Native America.
Techniques for changing and using internal energy are the foundation of many healing systems including acupuncture, reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healing. It also directly relates to the use of affirmations and mantras (sacred sounds and phrases) which create sounds that have energetic qualities that produce specific effects. And, in the United States, more than $10 billion annually is spent on the energy of radiation combined with chemotherapy as a treatment for cancer. Regardless of your philosophical or medicinal inclination, energy work works.
